'The Advertiser' today reported an on-line survey that 42% of children first use bad language and swear by 3 years of age. Swear words starting with f and s were the most common first naughty word. By kindergarten, more than 90% of children have uttered their first rude word, leaving parents in shock.
Really? Parents in shock? You've got to be kidding.
Where on earth do you think that children hear these words, out of the cosmos? Sure, there may have been some learnings from the playground, but come on, children learn from seeing, and then doing in the home setting. That's where they spend most of their time.
Their role models are their parents and those who care for them. What the adults do and say, the children pick up and imitate. Simple as that.
It's never going to be do as I say, not as I do. It's all about doing and being the right role model.
Being a great role model is the greatest gift you can gift to your children -- guaranteed!
